The mentor, the protector. An unearthly, timeless and eternal being.  All along in the story, Michael is Nikita's angel. The one who teaches, gives advice, sometimes he will give orders and will always be a guideline. He is like the lighthouse and the light and by opposition the shadow covering her up. He is the main support and the endless torment...
This grand character, prince and knight of a heavenly militia, God protector, was born ostensibly in the Celtic imagination, associated to Lug or Taranis, two Celtic gods. These heroes are timeless and will strongly survive in human imagination from the dawn of History until now.

Michael represents, at the end of this second millennium, the perfect archetype of the legend. All his qualities including his environment are present. All the similarities are there. The fight against Evil. That's the cause Michael is serving because he believes that this is a just cause. He will kill in order to save the world, and like an archangel, he has only noble causes based on the principles of equality and justice, and in killing, he will show no emotions. Everything is justified and well planned. He does his executions efficiently with cold blood and accuracy. Michael looks and acts like an angel. This series shows the perfect harmony between the flesh and spirit. Certain scenes reminded me of some futuristic strips cartoon. Very high tech; with pure lines, similar in Japanese Art, bare like in Zen. Costumes also are from the same influence. Simple, monochrome but luxurious, enhancing leather and black color( light enjoys playing with the texture of leather).  Angels are always beautiful because beauty is peaceful and purifying. The series has attained summits in the Art of Photography showing the grace and the perfection of the heroes' faces. The human face shown in so many angles, as if the camera enjoyed drawing lines in Nikita or Michael faces. Outstanding work done by the make-up team and the hairdressers.

He is an angel
and even more. He does not make any noise and his presence will
be often evanescent. He is kind and strong. He vanishes in the
universe of Section One. He mixes in with shadows but is also
most present with the strong light in his eyes. All his energy
is powered by his eyes. Only. Rarely will he smile or frown.
Angels have no emotions; they are just beautiful and present
and they only look human. Michael has lived in this mystical
body for a long time...away from himself. After loosing both
his wife and son, it seems to me that he also lost his wings
and that he was reborn again. Slowly. Keeping certain characters
of these unreal creatures called angels, I will compare him to
St.Michael, the warrior, the angel fighting evil. The angel that
became archangel. In western civilization, since Byzantine era,
Michael's "Quis ut Deus" is challenging Satan or Lucifer.
Michael will fight the Dragon and the rebellious angels, as Christ
lieutenant, the sword of Justice serving the Goodness, even if
to achieve his goal, he will use violence.
I will always remember
the beauty of the line drawn on Michael's face, almost sculpted,
starting at the chin and going up on the bone of the cheek and
disappearing on the arch of the eyebrows...A line which is underlining
the angle of his jaw showing us the expression of his power,
of his mystery...A play of shadows, leading in a subtle way to
his inner self.
