We
have one Bedtime Story this week...but it
certainly
is a wonderful one. This comes to us from our
co-mission leader, Patricia.

The Surprise
You open up your door in response to the doorbell
having been rung,
but
upon opening it you find no one to be standing
behind
it. As you go to
close the door you notice a box in the shape of a
heart sitting at your
doorstep. You look down the hall to see if you can
see anyone that
might
have left them there, but you see no one and hear
nothing. Your
curiosity
grows by the minute and you finally pick up the box
realizing it
contains
chocolates, from the mouth watering ordor they are
producing.
You begin to take the chocolates into the kitchen
to
save them for
later
when something catches your eye, you turn to see a
small white envelope
fluttering to the ground. You pick it up off of the
ground and slip
the
small pink card out of the slightly bigger envelope.
It reads, “To the
love
of my life, now and forever. R” You think to
yourself that it was
delivered to the wrong apartment by mistake, who do
you know that their
name
starts with the letter R? No one.
All the sudden you realize the doorbell has been
rung
again and in
order to
not miss the person behind it you run to the door as
quickly as you
can, yet
again as before, you have missed the mysterious
stranger. This time
instead
of candy there lies a dozen red roses on the door
step, the wonderful
aroma
meets you as you bend down to pick them up. You
find
the card
carefully
placed on top of the roses and see that it reads,
“You
captured my
heart the
first time I saw you and I pray that you never let
it
go. R”
You scratch your head, still trying to think of who
you know that has
a
name that starts with an R, you laugh to yourself as
the only name you
can
think of is of the one from your favorite tv show
“La
Femme Nikita”.
You
think to yourself, “I know that these did not come
from Roy, I mean how
in
the world would he know me or even care who I am?”
You place the
beautiful
arrangement of flowers into a tall crystal vase and
place them on your
coffee table.
Again the doorbell rings and you run to the door
with
all your might
trying
to find out who is leaving you with all these
wonderful gifts. You
fling
the door open to find it again void of a human
presence. This time you
find
an expensive bottle whine at your feet with a note
that reads, “This
whine
is sweet but for this I’m sure, nothing can ever
compare to the
sweetness of
you. R” With an air of frustration you close the
door
and take the
bottle
of wine to the kitchen an place it into your fridge.
“Who is this
person?
Why did he or she keep having things delivered to
your
place and if
they
weren’t for you how would you ever find them?”
You place yourself next to the door, determined not
to miss whoever it
was
leaving these presents if they should happen to do
it
again. This time
there was a soft knock at the door, you open it with
such a force you
startle the poor man standing behind it and he
almost
drops the two
wine
glasses he was carrying. You stand in stunned
silence
trying to
comprehend
who you are seeing in front of you, blinking several
times, very
rapidly,
sure you are seeing an illusion. “Hello,” comes the
deep and husky
voice,
lightly accented.
“H . . . H . . . H . . . Hi,” you stammer out.
“Would you like to
come
in?”
“Yes, thank you,” he says with a smile, entering
into
your apartment,
he
sets the glasses down on a near-by table.
“How did you find me? Why are you here?” You ask
dumbfounded.
“I got your letter, I usually don’t pay much
attention to the letters
I
receive but yours struck such a cord in me I felt I
had to meet you,”
he
explains.
“But you’re . . . You’re Roy Dupuis and I’m . . .
Nobody,”
“Never say that,” he scolds you, “You are someone
very special to me
and I
want to learn about as much as I can about you, so
come and join me on
the
couch and bring the wine and chocolates with you. I
have a feeling
this is
going to be a long night, not that I’m complaining.”
You enter you
kitchen
and take the bottle wine out of the fridge, you look
up to the ceiling
and
mouth the words “Thank you God.”
You return to the couch and hand Roy the bottle of
wine, knowing that
this
is going to be the best night of your life. . .
